We’ve expanded this year’s fest to include local performers and we’re honored to welcome Elis Artz to the Heartland Maker Fest family.

Here are a few words from Elis about her art:

Elis Artz was born In Brazil and has lived in Champaign since 2006. She sings a combination Of samba, bossa nova and brazilian popular music and is The lead singer Of The most well known brazilian Band In town, Desafinado.

Elis is also a painter of vibrant acrylic images. She is inspired by her home culture of Brazil and beautiful female faces. She discovered her artistic and creative talent ~30 years ago. Although many of her early paintings went to her family, she has sold several paintings via expositions in Brazil to individuals living throughout the country.

Recently she was one of the MTD ART featured artists. Her work was inside every Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District bus in Illinois, USA. One of her paintings was also showcased inside the Illinois Terminal Building on the first floor and another one of her pieces, “Frida,” was selected as a Sky Gallery winner in 2015.
